Qatar backs diplomacy with Iran, warns Gulf security system under strain
Qatar has voiced strong support for diplomatic efforts to end the ongoing conflict involving Iran, while warning that the الحرب has pushed regional security systems to a critical breaking point.
Speaking on Tuesday, Qatar’s foreign ministry spokesman Majed Al-Ansari said Doha welcomes all forms of dialogue aimed at de-escalation, following remarks by Donald Trump about recent communication between Washington and Tehran.
“We support all diplomatic efforts within this framework, whether through official or unofficial channels and contacts,” Al-Ansari said.
However, he clarified that Qatar is not currently acting as a mediator between the two sides. “I wish to emphasize here that there are currently no direct Qatari efforts underway regarding mediation between the two parties,” he added.
Beyond diplomacy, Qatar raised serious concerns about the broader regional impact of the conflict. According to Al-Ansari, the الحرب has exposed deep vulnerabilities in the Gulf’s collective security arrangements.
“The most important outcome of this war is the breakdown of the security system in the Gulf region,” he said, pointing to increasing instability as Iran continues its aerial campaign targeting neighboring countries.
He noted that Gulf nations—long aligned in their efforts to maintain stability—now face the urgent need to reassess their مشتركة defense strategies.
“The Gulf states, which have been working closely and in parallel to ensure their security, are in need of a post-war re-evaluation of what a shared regional security framework truly entails,” Al-Ansari said.
His comments highlight growing unease across the region, as leaders weigh both immediate risks and the long-term implications of a conflict that is reshaping the Middle East’s security landscape.
